At Quobe, we value and respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our commitment to protecting your information while being transparent about the data processed to operate the app, manage subscriptions, and display advertisements.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect or Access

Quobe is built with a privacy-first architecture. The developer cannot access or view the following data:

• Camera & Photos: Camera input and selected photos are processed 100% on-device for Optical Character Recognition (OCR), text highlighting, and book cover scans. Photos and scanned images are never sent to our servers.
• iCloud / CloudKit Data: Your library, saved quotes, reading progress, and private club feeds are stored securely in your personal Apple iCloud account. We do not host or have access to your iCloud database.
• Personal Identity: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.

2. Data We Process and Third-Party Services

To provide book metadata, enable app features, and support the App through advertising, Quobe integrates the following third-party services:

A. Open Library (Book Search History)

• Data Collected: Search queries (book title, author, or ISBN).
• Details: When you search for a book, your query is sent directly to Open Library (openlibrary.org). Search queries are not linked to your personal identity and are not used for tracking or advertising.

B. Google AdMob (Advertising & Analytics)

• Data Collected:
  • Identifiers: Device ID (e.g., Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers - IDFA, or Identifier for Vendors - IDFV).
  • Usage Data: Advertising Data (ad impressions, clicks) and Product Interaction data.
  • Coarse Location: Approximate location derived automatically from IP address.
  • Diagnostics: Performance Data (crash logs, latency, app launch times).

C. RevenueCat (App Functionality)

• Data Collected: Anonymous User ID, purchase status, and ad-revenue metrics (once the RevenueCat API key is configured).

3. Advertising & Tracking Choices (iOS ATT)

• App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS devices, Google AdMob uses your device IDFA for personalized advertising only if you explicitly tap "Allow" on the tracking prompt when opening the App.
• If You Decline Tracking: AdMob will display non-personalized ads based solely on contextual data (such as general device model or approximate region based on IP).
• Managing Preferences: You can enable or revoke tracking permissions at any time via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > Quobe.

4. Data Security

We take data security seriously:

• Your photos and scanned text stay on your device.
• Your personal reading data stays within your private Apple iCloud account.
• All communications with third-party services (RevenueCat, Google AdMob) use encrypted HTTPS connections.

5. Your Rights & Control

Because Quobe stores your library and quotes in your personal iCloud, you have full control over your data:

• You can delete your quotes, books, or clubs directly inside the app at any time.
• You can revoke Camera permissions or Tracking permissions via your iOS Device Settings.
• Because we do not store your personal details (like names or emails) on custom external servers, there is no personal profile for us to modify or sell.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting the updated version.

Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Quobe! These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Quobe mobile application (the "App"), developed by Unicorn Donkeys ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Quobe, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. License & App Access

• Eligibility: You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use Quobe.
• License: Quobe grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the App on your iOS devices solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• Free & Ad-Supported Model:Quobe is currently provided free of charge and supported through in-app advertisements.

2. User-Generated Content & Code of Conduct

Quobe allows you to scan book passages, create quote cards, set club names, and interact with other users (collectively, "User Content").

• Objectionable Content Policy: We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for abusive, illegal, or objectionable content. You agree NOT to post, share, or transmit content that:
  • Is defamatory, hateful, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory.
  • Contains explicit, sexually graphic, or violent imagery or text.
  • Infringes upon the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
• Content Moderation: We reserve the right (but have no obligation) to remove any User Content, terminate private club invite links, or restrict access to the App if these Terms are violated.

3. Copyright & Fair Use of Book Passages

• Book Excerpts & Quotes: Quobe is designed as a digital notebook and reading companion. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that the quotes and excerpts they scan, style, and share comply with local copyright laws and fair use guidelines.
• Intellectual Property Rights: All original content, branding, UI designs, graphics, and software code of Quobe remain the exclusive property of Unicorn Donkeys.

4. Third-Party Advertisements & Services

• Google AdMob & RevenueCat: The App displays advertisements supplied by Google AdMob and measures ad performance via RevenueCat. We do not control or endorse the products, services, or claims advertised in these third-party ads, and we are not liable for any transactions or interactions you enter into with third-party advertisers.
• Apple iCloud: The App uses Apple iCloud for cross-device data storage. Your use of iCloud is subject to Apple’s terms and privacy policies.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

Quobe is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scanned text via OCR will always be 100% accurate.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Unicorndonkeys shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the App, including data loss or device malfunctions.

7. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being published in the App or on our support website. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Italy / European Union, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
